The Ally Foundation and its Members

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

As-salaam Alaikum everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read through our Blog posts! Each Blog will cover a different topic, whether it concerns updates about our projects, general information, or a closer look at what we do and who we are. With that being said, our Foundation's official mission is "to help those in need, both near and afar, regardless of gender, race, or religion, and to eventually establish prominent institutions in areas where they are scarce."

As mentioned in our first Blog, we have taken on

three projects so far: one for our community of Fayetteville that helps the homeless, one for Guyana that helps orphans and struggling families, and one for Haiti that helps students. We aim to take on more projects when we can, with our larger goal focusing on building a

school, masjid, or cemetery in places that need them.

Our main method of operation has been selling meals on a weekly basis in order to raise funds. We then take those funds and get supplies to distribute in Guyana, Haiti, and Fayetteville. Our Blog updates for these projects will be posted soon which will feature more information about each project, as well as what we have accomplished so far!

Under our 'Meet The Team' section, you will see our prominent leaders and their positions: Azalea Ally (President), Ranesa Pagoo-Hawkins (Vice President), Arianna Ally (Secretary), and Akeem Roberts (Treasurer). Though these individuals lead our organization, there are many more members behind-the-scenes who play pivotal roles and help with achieving the organization's mission.

Our organization is multi-generational, with

each generation playing a different part in how the organization operates. Our aunts and uncles, being the guiding forces that they are, comprise our official advisory board. We look to them for support and advice on which projects to take on and how to spend our funds. Amongst the cousins, we take on the roles of executing the organization's mission while also inspiring the next generation. The up-and-coming generation, which consists of our nieces and nephews, learns values, helps with projects, and will, hopefully, continue the legacy left behind by their great-grandparents.

Though this organization was only recently formed, our family engaged in various projects over the years, all of which have helped form our mission statement. The patriarch of our family, Usman Ally, for example, helped to rebuild the Providence Masjid in Guyana. Our

matriarch, Bibi Halima Ally, always prepared meals for people in the community and took care of kids in need.

Those in Fayetteville may also remember her, as well as the rest of the Ally family, preparing meals for those who were affected by Hurricane Matthew about six

years ago. My brother Amjad was a strong believer in helping your community and speaking on social justice issues. He was always the first to support everyone's dreams and made sure to give back to those who need whenever he could. My aunt, Nazima Ally, was just as giving and held true to the values of humility, compassion, and selflessness. From helping cancer patients, refugees, and orphans to volunteering with Zakat Foundation, Islamic Relief, and the United Muslim Relief organization, the legacy that began with the original Allys carries on through their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

As mentioned in our previous Blog post, the founding of The Ally Foundation was a great way to honor all of our loved ones who passed, provide a lifetime commitment to bettering ourselves, help various communities, and inspire the next generation.

My loved ones pictured below are my: grandmother Halima Ally (1939-2018), grandfather Usman Ally (1934-1993), aunt Nazeema Ally (1970-2014), cousin Marcello Bianchini (1989-2000), and brother Amjad 'Ace' Khan (1990-2021).

"Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life."

- Albert Einstein

Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.

O Allah, forgive our loved ones and elevate their station among those who are guided. Send them along the path of those who came before, and forgive us and them, O Lord of the worlds. Enlarge for them their graves and shed light upon them in it.

Thank you for supporting us!
