We launched our More Than A Meal program in November 2021 to provide meals and hygiene products to unhoused individuals in Downtown Fayetteville, NC. Initially, our efforts began with a small team of three members, preparing 10 meals and distributing a limited number of hygiene items. By February 2022, we significantly expanded our capacity, increasing our weekly meal output to approximately 50-75 meals. Our success in the Downtown area has cultivated a dedicated group of over 20 volunteers who actively participate in our mission. In addition, we have organized special More Than A Meal events that partner with various organizations to deliver essential services, including mental health support, flu vaccinations, COVID testing, job resources, and housing assistance.

We launched our More Than A Meal program in Gaza after partnering with a local organization on the ground, Kon Awona, to support their efforts in helping the community. Our efforts began during the month of Ramadhan in March 2026, and we raised $ 4,100 to help with meals, clothing, candy, and groceries. During Ramadhan, our partners assisted 5,000 families! Following the success of our Ramadhan campaign and partnership, we decided to make More Than A Meal a consistent program in the region. Now, we offer our program each month, with our partners traveling along the Gaza Strip to provide meals and other essentials directly.

We began our More Than A Meal program in Guyana in February 2022. We began partnering with a local organization, New Life For Kids Relief, to distribute bags of rice to those in need across the country. In the same year, we branched out on our own and began sending barrels filled with canned goods for distribution to vulnerable groups across the country. On occasion, our team cooks fresh meals and distributes them to local orphanages and families in need. Today, we continue to distribute canned goods and grocery-filled bags to many in need in villages such as Berbice, Herstelling, Laluni, Waramadong, and others. We work closely with multiple organizations to expand our reach, including Nine Nations, a youth-led Indigenous group, and Young Pioneers.

We began our More Than A Meal program in Haiti in February 2022. We have a friend in the area, Adbul Malik, who is the community leader. We originally started our programs in Port-au-Prince by supporting the Centre de Formation Cecile Fatima school. This school had about 100 kids, most of whom were orphans. Our hunger relief program at that time went towards supporting the kids and providing them with meals on a daily basis. Due to the ongoing crises in the area, our friend and community were forced to flee to Grand Riviere du Nord. In this area, we have about 75 people that we support. Our More Than A Meal program continues in this new area, in which we provide bags of rice, food hampers, and freshly cooked meals whenever we can, but most especially during the month of Ramadhan.

More Than a Meal:
Senegal & Uganda

We began our More Than A Meal program in Senegal in September 2024 and in Uganda in January 2026. Typically when we have funds leftover from building wells, we use the funds to buy bags of rice or small treats for the members of the villages that we operate in.
